DIY Pumpkin Spice Latte (Store Bought + Homemade Versions!)
Who doesn’t love a good ol’ pumpkin spice latte? I know I sure do! Sometimes I like to treat myself and get one at Starbucks or another coffee shop but sometimes I like to save money and make it taste exactly how I want at home.
I’ve found TWO fantastic ways to get your pumpkin spice fix at home: one that is pretty much a bought-it-and-done and the other that is a more homemade version. If you’re anything like me, you’ll choose different methods for different days. I just love having the options!
Okay, first onto the store bought and done method. You guys. You can barely call this a recipe, but I mean, it’s something to buy to make your coffee taste like all of your pumpkin spice dreams. Ready? STARBUCKS PUMPKIN SPICE LATTE CREAMER. Yep. It’s true.
So with this version, you literally just make whatever kind of coffee suits your fancy: drip, pour over, french press, etc. and then you add as much or as little creamer that you want. The reason I love this one so much is it’s done for me which is awesome and then also because sometimes the actual Starbucks version is a little bitter for my taste so I like being able to use the coffee that I want and get to control the flavor more. I make my coffee at home with the BEST coffee I’ve ever had with my Nespresso machine. This is a link to the exact coffee maker I have —-> HERE. (The deluxe and black version of my coffee maker is HERE.) This coffee maker makes a luscious layer of foam on every cup, without milk. It’s like a magic. Anyhow, it’s 100% worth the ‘investment’ to get incredible coffee at home that you just buy the pods for of the exact flavors you want.
For an added layer of magic, top with whipped cream and sprinkle a little pumpkin pie spice on there that you can get from the spice section at your grocery store or order HERE on Amazon!
Okay, now onto the homemade version. I’ve made this kind at home many times and is also really, really good!
homemade pumpkin spice latte
ingredients
2 tablespoons pumpkin puree
1/4 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
1 tablespoon sugar or sugar substitute (we love Stevia!)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups milk or milk substitute (I find cashew milk and oat milk are the most similar tasting to cow’s milk)
1/2 cup strongly brewed coffee
whipped cream & extra pumpkin spice as topping (optional)
DIRECTIONS
In a small saucepan on the stove over medium heat, heat and mix pumpkin puree with pumpkin pie spice for a few minutes. Stir in sugar or sugar substitute.
Add milk or milk substitute and vanilla extract and whisk mixture together until warm and comes together but make sure not to boil.
Blend milk with a frother, immersion/hand blender, or regular blender until frothy. (My immersion blender can be found HERE and my regular blender HERE)
Divide mixture between two coffee cups and pour milk mixture over coffee.
Top with whipped cream and a sprinkle of pumpkin pie spice if desired. Enjoy!
Easy-peasy, right? Both ways you truly can’t lose! Head over to my Instagram and comment on my last photo when you’ve made your latte and let me know which one you tried and how you liked it!
XO,
Laura
